Privacy Policy

Effective date: [EFFECTIVE DATE — to be set at launch]. This policy covers the OctoCart shopper site and the OctoMart store portal. Questions: support@chekinfotech.com.

The short version

OctoCart shows weekly grocery flyers from local stores. It is free. You do not need an account. We collect almost nothing about you: the city you picked and, if you change it, your language — plus privacy-minimizing usage counts we measure ourselves (see "How we measure use of the site"). We do not sell data, we do not run ads, and we do not use third-party analytics trackers.

What we save on your device

We set up to two small cookies. Both exist only to make the site work:

  • Your city. When you pick a city (or use your location once — see below), we save the ID of that region so the site can show your local stores next time. This is a region ID, not your address and not your coordinates.
  • Your language. If you pick a language other than English, we save that choice so the site stays in your language.

No other cookies. No tracking cookies. You can clear them anytime in your browser settings — the site keeps working; you just pick your city again.

If you tap "Use my location"

Location is always your choice. Nothing happens unless you tap the button and your browser asks you first.

If you say yes, your coordinates are used once to figure out which city region is closest to you, and to sort nearby stores by distance while you browse. We do not save your coordinates — not in a cookie, not on your device, not in our database. When you close or reload the page, they are gone. Only the resolved city region is remembered (the cookie above).

If you say no, or your device has no location, you simply pick your city from the list. Everything works the same.

Shopper accounts

There are none. Browsing flyers needs no sign-up, no email, no phone number, no personal information.

Store owner accounts

Store owners who publish flyers with us sign in to a separate store portal. For those accounts we store the email address and login credentials needed to run the account (handled through Supabase, our sign-in provider), plus the store details and flyer content the owner submits. Emails to store owners are account emails only — password resets, sign-in links, and invitations. We do not send marketing email, and we do not sell this information.

How we measure use of the site

We count how flyers are used — for example that a flyer was opened, a page was turned, or a store page was visited — so we know which stores and regions matter to shoppers. This measurement is built and run entirely by us, first-party: no Google Analytics, no advertising networks, no social media pixels, no fingerprinting. It uses no cookies and stores nothing on your device.

To tell rough daily audience sizes apart without identifying anyone, your IP address is transformed on our server into a scrambled code (a keyed hash) that changes every day, and the raw IP address is then discarded — it is never stored. The daily code is pseudonymous data, not anonymous data: within one day it distinguishes visitors, but we deliberately cannot and do not join it across days, so it builds no history and no profile of you.

  • Raw usage events are kept for 7 days by default and never longer than 30 days, then deleted. Only daily totals (counts per flyer, store, region, device type, and arrival source) are kept longer.
  • Daily values are never joined across days — yesterday's code and today's code cannot be matched to each other.
  • We honor your browser's Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals: with either enabled, your browser sends us no usage events at all.
  • No advertising, no data sales, no third parties — these counts exist only so we can decide which stores and cities to cover better.

Technical logs

Like almost every website, our servers keep standard technical logs of requests (things like IP address, the page requested, and the time) for a short period, to keep the site secure and to fix problems. If something on the site breaks, we may record technical details of the error so we can repair it. These records are about the site, not about you — we do not use them to build profiles of visitors.

What we never do

  • We never sell or rent any information.
  • We never show ads or share data with advertisers.
  • We never store your precise location.
  • We never require an account to browse.

Your choices

  • Location: just decline the browser prompt, or never tap the button.
  • Cookies: clear them in your browser; the site resets to defaults.
  • Account deletion: store owners can have their account and everything attached to it erased by emailing support@chekinfotech.com.
  • Questions or requests: email us (below) and a person will answer.

Children

OctoCart is a flyer-browsing site. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, children included — there is nothing to collect without an account.

Changes to this policy

If we change how the site handles information, we will update this page and change the effective date at the top.
